Super City webchat #2

Voit katsoa webchatin kokonaisuudessaan alta.

He kävivät läpi aika paljon samoja asioita, kuin mitä olen jo kirjoittanut..

Shine A Light soitetaan myös tänään ensimmäistä kertaa Iso-Britanniassa radiossa n. klo 23.15 Suomen aikaa, In:Demand -kanavalla kuten Party Girlkin! Voit kuunnella In:Demandia tästä.

Super City webchat

Pioneerit saavat 15% alennusta Super Storesta, he saavat heti ladata uuden kappaleen "The End Of The Worldin" kokonaiset 6 viikkoa ennen levyn julkaisua kaupoissa, heillä on myös avatarissa "pioneerin siivet" (näet ne kuvasta) ja he saavat 100 pistettä, joilla voi sitten ostaa jotain. Pioneerejä ovat siis 10 000 ensimmäistä Super Cityyn liittynyttä.

Super City saapuu!!

Eilen 23.30 Suomen aikaa mcfly.comiin laitettiin uusi video Super Citystä! Videossa McFly kertoo Super Citystä mm. mitä kaikkea saamme, jos liitymme "asukkaiksi" jne. Voit katsoa videon alta.

Liittyneet saavat mm. kuulla ensin uuden levyn Above the Noisen, nähdä lyhytelokuva Nowhere Left to Runin, kuulla demoja, katsoa videoita ja kuvia mitä ei muualla julkaista, lukea Tomin kirjoittamia laulunsanoja, kitaratunteja, pelejä..
- Kuukausittain McFly julkaisee jotain vielä isompaa, esim. Nowhere Left To Run (lokakuussa) ja Above the Noise (1. marraskuuta).
- Fanit saavat myös vaikuttaa päätöksiin Super Cityn kautta, esim. mikä biisi julkaistaan singlenä, mitä he soittavat kiertueella jne.
- Kaikki, jotka liittyvät heti alkuun vuodeksi, kutsutaan meet and greetiin! Meet and greetejä pidetään mm.
Meet and greet ei myöskään ole vain nopea tapaaminen, vaan McFly pitää ihan meet and greet -päiviä, jolloin he tutustuvat Super Cityn asukkaisiin!
 - Keskiviikkoiltana Englannin aikaa McFly pitää webchatin, jossa he vastailevat fanien
kysymyksiin Super Citystä.

The Sun ja Teen Today

"Sanchez is a high McFly-er

MCFLY star DANNY JONES is working on a side-project with American house DJ ROGER SANCHEZ.
The singer was asked to provide melodies for Roger's forthcoming album after a chance meeting in a London Hotel last month.
The pair got on so well, they've also spoken about the possibility of Danny recording his own dance album.
Danny excitedly confirmed the news during his recent Biz Session.
A source said: "Roger is very impressed with Danny. McFly's Pary Girl had a dance edge but their new work is heavier house.
"Roger reckons Danny's got a great feel for dance music and a great future."
Good luck to him. "
The Sun

"McFly part 2 - Danny's crotch, Tom's chin, rubbish tattoos

Thanks to all your hard work in what we’re generously describing as a crowd-sourced promotional experiment we now have 8,000 followers on twitter. In good news, that means we can now bring you part 2 of our McFly interview, and if you woke up this morning wondering what the World’s biggest seemed-like-a-good-idea-at-the-time tattoo says - you should probably hit ‘see more’…

As well as talk of tats, there’s the moment in which Danny realises there’s a twitter account dedicated to his crotch ("CROTCH?!!"), some on-the-fence comment about the boys’ best live crowd and Danny banging on about football. So as usual, all the important stuff that you won’t hear anywhere else."

RWD ja Teen Today -videot

RWD tapasi McFlyn ja he juttelevat mm. uudesta albumista Above the Noisesta, Tomin sukupuolesta, Dougien lempi seksiasennosta, vaatteista ja siitä, kuinka monta kertaa Danny löi päänsä lapsena.

Teen Today tapasi McFlyn jo pari viikkoa sitten (olisikohan siitä jopa yli kuukausikin jo) ja vihdoinkin he laittoivat siitä YouTubeen videon. He juttelevat mm.

"British Invasion: Harry Judd
Yes, it's another British Invasion, one that is anticipated by the female fans (and some male closet fans) of the United States. After the success of the Beatles, why not try another one and see how this goes? Only problem, they're not that big in America, in fact few people know about them. But, if you're a die hard McFly fan, it doesn't bother you that they're mainly stationed in the UK (not that much anyway).
McFly, the British band that's quickly rising to fame first started back in 2004. Over the six year course of their band (and they're still going strong) they've stuck to thier original pop-rock sound. The band consists of Tom Fletcher (lead vocals and rhythmic guitar), Danny Jones (lead vocals and lead guitar), Dougie Poynter (backing vocals and bass guitar) and Harry Judd (drums). The band rose to fame after fellow pop band Busted helped launch them by inviting them to tour in March 2004. The band's name originates from Marty McFly, the main character of the Back to the Future trilogy.
They have five albums out Room on the 3rd Floor, Wonderland, Just My Luck (which coincides with the American movie they took part of of the same name with Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine), Motion in the Ocean, All the Greatest Hits, and most recently Radio:ACTIVE. They released their first five albums under Island Records before creating their own label called Super Records. Under this record label, they put out the CD Radio:ACTIVE and their newest album (which will be released soon) called Above the Noise.
Their first album, Room on the 3rd Floor debuted at #1 on the UK album charts and is certified as double-platinum. This led them to becoming the youngest band to have an album debut at number 1 - previously held by the Beatles. This was possible because their bass player, Dougie Poynter, and youngest member of the band, was only 15 when he joined the band. Ever since their albums Wonderland also hit #1, Motion in the Ocean debut at #6, and All the Greatest Hits debuted at #4. They also hold sixteen consecutive top twenty singles, seven which reached #1 in the UK singles charts, and fifteen of which were consecutive top ten singles.
But, you're here to read more about the man behind the drum set, the driving force of the band; Harry Judd.
Harry Mark Christopher Judd was born December 23, 1985 making him 25 this upcoming holiday season. Judd was born in Chelmsford, Essex, England and has appeared in Busted's music video for their single "Crashed the Wedding", after which he joined McFly following auditions. Judd had been playing the drums for three years before he joined McFly.
He heard about the auditions the same way thier bass player, Dougie Poynter, heard about them. Both of them found out through a classified advertisement in the NME magazine Both boys are from Essex and they both, coincidentally, turned up at the same audition. They bonded over talking about thier favorite band, The Starting Line, after Poynter noticed their name and logo was printed on Judd's t shirt.
Even though Judd isn't one of the singers of the group, he does do his fair share of singing. Some fans recount the event where during a break in their set, Judd took the mike and sang "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias. It's no doubt that he also has great vocals for the band. He is also the "funny" member of the band."

OMG Music ja Digital Spy

"McFly: "All Of Our Songs From Experiences We've Had"McFly's music is personal says band member Tom Fletcher, who says the group take inspiration from their everyday lives when writing songs.
"All of our songs come from experiences we've each had," explains Tom. "We've been in relationships as teenagers where everything feels really full-on and intense, but I think the way we've approached the girl stuff on this one is a bit more grown-up."
Dougie Poynter adds: "When you're younger, living with your girlfriend or going on holiday with your girlfriend seems like a massive deal, but now it's just normal. I think that maturity comes through in our songwriting."
When asked if his split from Frankie Sandford of The Saturdays earlier this year had influenced any of the songs, Dougie told Sugar: "To be honest, by the time I'd figured out where I was emotionally with the break-up, we'd got back together!
"We all talk about our relationships and what we're going through, so although I might not actually write about what's going on with me, it could well end up inspiring the others."
OMG Music (ovat muuten laittaneet todella uuden kuvan artikkeliin..)

"McFly stream new video shoot live
McFly have streamed the shooting of their new music video live through their official website.
The group, whose new single 'Shine A Light' features Taio Cruz, are filming the clip in a secret location in London and are offering fans the chance to star in the video by following a series of clues.
Harry Judd introduced the live stream and revealed the first clue to the band's whereabouts, asking viewers to go to London's Liverpool Street tube station and look for a "dancing dog".
Danny Jones also noted: "This is a first, a world exclusive of the Harry and Danny show!"
The opening scene of the video was also shown, revealing a girl sitting at her computer watching the same webstream and being told the first hint of the group's location.
Further clues will be revealed throughout the day and the song will receive its first official play.
'Shine A Light' is the second track lifted from the band's forthcoming album Above The Noise."

The Crush September

Eilen tuli Englannissa The Crush September -ohjelma telkkarista, ja McFly oli siellä vieraana. Tässä videoita.

Haastattelusta näytettiin TV:stä vain valikoituja pätkiä, mutta The Crush September laittoi pidemmänkin version nettiin. Tässä TV:ssä näytetty lyhyt versio:

Ja pitempi versio:

Sitten Party Girl:

Shine A Lightin lyriikat

"Tell me are you feeling strong
strong enough to love someone
and make it through the hardest storm
and bad weather

Will you pull me from the flames
Hold me till I feel no pain
and give me shelter from the rain
for ever
Where can I find her?
She took the light and left me in the dark, eh
She left me with a broken heart, eh
Now I’m on my own
If anybody sees her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh)

If anybody sees her
Tell me can you hear my voice
loud and clear above the noise
Even if I had the choice
I would not give up
I can not find her

She took the light and left me in the dark, eh
She left me with a broken heart, eh
Now I’m on my own
If anybody sees her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh)
If anybody sees her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh)
If anybody sees her

She took the light and left me in the dark, eh
She left me with a broken heart, eh
Now I’m on my own
If anybody sees her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh)
If anybody sees her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh, eh)
Shine a light on her (eh, eh)
If anybody sees her"
:) EDIT voit kuulla biisin esimerkiksi "The set-up continues!"-pätkästä n. ajassa 52.05.

Suoraa kuvaa Shine A Lightin videon kuvauksesta!

Voit katsoa McFlyta livenä Shine A Lightin musiikkivideon kuvauksesta täällä. :)

McFly Freshly Squeezedissä & Shine A Lightin musiikkivideo

Freshly Squeezed:

Huomenna McFly ja Taio Cruz järjestää Lontoossa klo 10 eteenpäin "aarrejahdin", jossa McFly ja Taio antaa Twitterin kautta vihjeitä, miten he pääsevät Shine A Lightin musiikkivideolle. McFly official kirjoittaa asiasta näin: "Do you want to be part of McFly's new video?

The first clue will be live on www.mcfly.com tomorrow morning at 10am and throughout the day we’ll release more clues to tell you were you can find the tokens to win a chance to be part of the video!"

Myös Daily Star kirjoitti asiasta pienen uutisen:

Tomorrow the band and Taio, 28, will send out live messages on Twitter from a secret location inviting fans to join them to film new single Shine A Light.

McFly Biz Session - The Sun

Super Cityn julkaisu on jo lähellä! Hehe. Super City siis avataan 1. lokakuuta eli noin kahden viikon päästä!
McFly  (paitsi Harry) oli The Sunilla soittamassa akustisesti Room on the Third Floorin, Party Girlin ja Danny jopa coveroi The Verven biisiä Bittersweet Symphony. The Sun kirjoittaa siitä näin:
"McFly-ing in a new direction
MCFLY have undergone a dramatic synth-pop makeover in a bid to "compete on an international level".
Love or hate their new direction, the lads - minus poorly drummer HARRY JUDD - went back to basics for their Biz Session.
Clutching acoustic guitars, the three healthy McFlyers blitzed their way through latest single Party Girl, oldie Room On The 3rd Floor and DANNY JONES' powerful cover of THE VERVE'S Bittersweet Symphony.
Between songs, Danny, TOM FLETCHER and DOUGIE POYNTER messed around like naughty teens in an anarchic classroom.
Dougie sparked hilarity with frequent requests fired at their keyboard player Isaac, such as: "Play something that represents the moment you realise you're in love with your dad."
Danny then took up vocal duties for an impromptu and improvised new 'song' Angry Pirate as his bandmates - and everyone else - rolled around giggling.
I spoke to the boys once they'd finished their set/tomfoolery, and they were equally playful sat down on a sofa.
"Do you share clothes?" I asked Dougie of his relationship with THE SATURDAYS singer FRANKIE SANDFORD.
Amusingly, the boys misheard my question as: "Do you sh*g loads?"
Say it fast and you'll understand how they got the wrong end of the stick.
Danny cheekily quipped: "What's it like Dougie, what's it like? We ask him that all the time."
Back to business and Tom explained why they took the risky decision to internationalise their sound and tone down the six-string strumming - with help from heavyweight US producer DALLAS AUSTIN.
He said: "We realised in the past that we had so much going on in the UK, we never had time to go out.
"Literally, our first trip to Europe was only last year and we've been around for seven years now.
"I think people now realise that we have an amazing fanbase around the world that has built up over the last seven years, through the internet and things.
"So, in our minds, we knew this album was one that we would definitely release all over the world - and go and tour it there."
That said, it seems they've already made quite an impact abroad - especially with randy Brazilian mums.
Danny said: "I got a box full of condoms. There was a letter and it said: 'My daughter's a big fan - and so am I.'
"She wrote her address and described what she wanted me to do to her. It was filthy. I didn't go because there wasn't a picture."
Meanwhile, the boys have clearly upped the ante in the boozing stakes.
Putting drummer Harry's case forward for my Caner Of The Year crown, Tom revealed: "Harry was carrying a round of drinks up the stairs of a club. He tripped over and he didn't want to drop the drinks - so he didn't put his hands down. He headbutted the stairs and he split his lip. It was literally hanging off. He spent the whole night with blood soaked into his shirt. We ended up sitting in hospital for six hours getting his lip stitched."
Next time Harry, let me get the drinks.
Watch all three Biz Session songs - including Danny's superb, unrehearsed version of Bittersweet Symphony - by clicking on the video links, above right.
McFly play the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire on October 19 and the 02 Apollo Manchester on October 23."
Voit katsoa videot tästä.
T4 laittoi Youtubeen pätkän McFlysta, jota ei näytetty telkkarissa. Voit katsoa sen alta.

McFly Michael Ball Show'ssa

Tänään (noin pari tuntia sitten, kiitos Mickylle nopeasta latauksesta!) tuli Englannissa Michael Ball Show ja McFly oli siellä haastateltavana ja esittämässä Party Girlin. Tässä video :)

McFly 'give album away for free' - Digital Spy

"McFly 'give album away for free'
McFly have revealed that they will give their new album away for free.
The group, who recently announced the LP's title as Above The Noise, will send fans a copy of the LP when they subscribe to their new website 'Super City' next month.
"We've always wanted to be a bit more innovative and do things differently," Tom Fletcher told X.
The singer also revealed that members will have to pay a monthly or annual subscription fee to use the site, which will give them access to demo recordings and priority passes to their live shows.
He continued: "We haven't ironed out the details yet, but it'll be about £6 a month or £40 - 50 a year. There's the music, plus new content every week - live shows, song demos, priority tickets to gigs... and will have a chance to hang out during soundchecks.
"It's about rewarding the fans. People worry about things leaking on the internet but we thought, why not just leak it ourselves?"
The band gave their last album, 2008's Radio:ACTIVE, away for free in the Daily Mail.
McFly launch their 'Super City' website in early October."
Digital Spy.

Viking FM - McFly tapaa Sam Pepperin

Tässä on kiva video Hullin Freedom Festivalin backstagelta, kun Englannin Big Brother-kilpailija Sam Pepper haastattelee McFlyta.

McFly Hull Freedom Festivalilla

McFly esiintyi viime viikon lauantaina Hullissa Freedom Festivalilla. This is Hull & East Riding kirjoitti festivaalista näin:

"Hull rocks as stars praise Freedom Festival and 50,000-strong crowd

CHART-topping stars who performed at Hull's Freedom Festival have promised to come back and do it all again.
Alesha Dixon, McFly, The Saturdays, Foals and Diana Vickers were among the music acts who performed at the event on Saturday.
More than 50,000 people turned out for the entertainment at Humber Quays and Queens Gardens, which was renamed Freedom Gardens for the weekend.
McFly's Harry Judd, who performed on the Viking FM stage at Humber Quays, said: "A lovely gig by the sea with the sun as well – Hull has done a good job today."
Asked if the band would like to return to the city, Harry said: "Definitely. We might just stay here."
Fellow bandmate Tom Fletcher said: "It's great to be back in Hull. We have played here a couple of times and it's always been a fantastic crowd, a fantastic reaction, and today was no exception."

Tässä vielä This is Hull & East Ridingin festivaalilta kuvaamansa video, jossa Harry haastattelee McFlyta :)

1. Alexandra Burke - Start Without You (feat. Laza Morgan) 73 306 kappaletta
2. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream 61 835 kpl
4. Olly Murs - Please Don't Let Me Go 52 867 kpl
5. The Script - For the First Time 52 126 kpl
6. McFLY - Party Girl 40 021 kpl.
En ikävä kyllä löytänyt McFlyn aiempien singlejen myyntilukuja, mutta Party Girl on kuulemma yksi heidän ensimmäisellä viikolla parhaiten myydyistä singleistä, joten muutos ei siis ollut täysin turha!  :)

"McFly Talk To Us About Touring, Fans And Super Powers!" - Entertainment Wise & Party Girl #6!!

"The boys are back...
McFly's new single, Party Girl is out this week and sees Danny, Tom, Harry and Dougie go off in a completely new direction.

We're huge fans and took the opportunity to talk to the boys about the album, touring and their exciting new Supersite.

So Party Girl marks a new direction for McFly. What's the reaction been like?
Tom: “It was one of those reactions where they didn't expect it but they loved it. People are shocked by the change of direction but we're lucky to have such loyal fans who are just excited to see what we're going to do.”
“You always get that new album anxiety, anxious/excited mix but we've been working on it for nearly 2 years now and we're used to it. But it must be a bit of a shock for fans.”

So what is the Party Girl vampire trailer all about?
Tom: “We saw it the same time as the fans which was quite fun. It's from a 30 minute movie that we've done. We decided that we really wanted to push every aspect of McFly to a new level. So rather than making your standard three minute music video we decided to make a 30 minute short."
Harry: “When we first got it, it was a really exciting script. It's not a Hollywood blockbuster but we did the best we could.”
Tom: “We just thought it would be fun to do something different.”

What was it like having the main part Harry?
Harry: “It was good! I really enjoyed it all but the vampire bits the most. It was the easy bit to act as you just had to be a bit of a psycho! The fangs and the blood really got you into it.”
Tom: “We'll release little bits of it but then hopefully the whole thing will go on the super site.”

Ah yes, the super site. Can you tell us what that's all about?
Tom: “It will go live in October. We're making a proper announcement where we'll explain exactly what it is and why we want our fans to join us on it.”
Harry: “It's very exciting. We can't guess how it is going to go but we've been planning it for 18 months. We're prepared. Once some fans experience it and get involved it will be awesome.
Tom: “It's genuinely built just for our fans.
“They'll gain access to our music and to us. You don't get that with any other band.
“We've got McFly TV, a guy filming everything we do. We'll constantly update it with amazing content for the fans.
“We want to bring fans into the whole creative process of McFly. It's not just the four of us in the band anymore, it's all our fans who've been with us for a long time now. Everything we do, we do it for them. We want to get them involved with the decision making.”

So, each of you has your own room on the supersite?
Dougie: “Yes, we've got our own features. Every room is different.”
Tom: “(Jokes) My whole room is the best bit of the site. We've even picked our own music for the rooms.”
Dougie: “It's not McFly music, it's atmospheric, epic movie stuff.”
Tom: “It creates an atmosphere as you're navigating around the site.”

Your new image is based on the idea of superheroes. If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Tom: “I would have the ability to travel through time.”
Danny: “I'd love to have the ability to be a footballer as well as a pop star. To sign for any team!”
Dougie: “I'd like the ability to be able to morph into any animal.”
Harry: “I think I'd be invisible. If you could fly you'd get too much attention.”

So you've got new material now. Do you hope it will gain you some new fans too?
Tom: “With every album you hope that, but our first priority is that our fans will love it. But the new stuff has got a good reaction from people that haven't been fans before, saying 'you've really got it right this time, it's awesome'.
“You don't really go into the recording process hoping that, you just do it for yourself.”
Harry: “If it does that then great. It is certainly a new sound and direction so I think it will appeal to different people and hopefully old fans too.”

Are you worried about putting it out there?
Danny: “No. You almost want to get it out there and say, look what I've been doing. It's like a big ball of excitement.”

Do you guys have plans to tour your new stuff next year?
Tom: “We're doing quite a few dates around the country in the build up to the album and Christmas and then a UK tour next year.”

Will it be a goodbye to your old material or will you still play some McFly classics? Tom: “We'll always play old stuff. We enjoy playing our old stuff. This is just a new direction for us.”
Danny: “All the old stuff has been a part of the band for so long that it will never go away.
“We'll do the old stuff in different way. We've done 5 Colours in a cool medley. It would be cool to look at some of the other old stuff and do that to it. Make it different.”

What is touring with McFly like?
Danny: “It's awesome. It's like being on holiday.”
Dougie: “It's very chilled. In a big bus.”
Danny: “It's an amazing feeling that people come out and see us every night.”

Does anyone have any bad tour bus habits?
Dougie: “No. Even farting and stuff is quite funny.”
Harry: “We're relatively laid back. We'll sit and watch a film and play X Box.”
Danny: “On the last UK tour we got addicted to Fifa. It got to the point where it would spoil a show.”
Tom: “Yeah, you'd be halfway through a song thinking 'I've got to beat them tonight.'”

We leave the boys arguing over who has the best super power and look forward to getting our hands on a supersite subscription. Come on, the chance to look around the boy's bedrooms? We're all over that!"

Entertainment Wise

"McFly go DIY

Would you like these boys to call you up? McFly tell Will Dean how they took back control of their music – and are giving fans unprecedented access to their lives.

All yours for £50 a year . . . from left, Tom Fletcher, Dougie Poynter, Danny Jones and Harry Judd. Photograph: Sarah Lee/Sarah Lee for the Guardian

'YURRWANKAS!" shouts Dougie Poynter as he explains a common reaction from Britain's white-van men to his walking down the street. Despite being infuriatingly good-looking, wealthy and successful, this seems about as tricky as life gets for the four members of McFly.

While the band might not take themselves too seriously – the video to their song Transylvania had singer Tom Fletcher mugging along dressed as Nosferatu – they're earnest about trying to take a lead when it comes to having a lasting pop career in the 21st century. In 2004, just as their immediate precursors Busted were imploding, McFly became the youngest band to have a debut album go to No 1, beating the Beatles. Somehow, despite looking about 12 (they're actually between 22 and 25), they've been together nearly as long as Ringo and company, with bass player Poynter having left school at 15 to join the band. Which makes me feel terrible when I ask him if his "Howl" top is an Allen Ginsberg T-shirt. "No, it's AllSaints," comes the innocent reply.

After drummer Harry Judd and Poynter joined Fletcher and guitarist/singer Danny Jones, their first single, 5 Colours in Her Hair, topped the charts, the first in a run of seven No 1s. They sold out arenas, appeared in the Lindsey Lohan movie Just My Luck (Judd's one-night stand with Lohan was cheekily referenced in their 2006 single Please, Please), removed their shirts more often than is polite and earned a fortune in the process. Then they seemed to experience the kind of decline that befalls most pop groups after a good three-year knock: releasing a half-hearted greatest hits, parting company with their label and going decidedly off-radar.

But what could have been the beginning of the end for a band whose teenage fans were beginning to outgrow them actually gave McFly a chance to take their future into their own hands. Miffed by the greatest hits release ("It wasn't really relevant," says Judd), they started their own label and released their fourth album, Radio:Active, through the Mail on Sunday.

"At the time, we were trying to think about how we could do things differently and keep up with the record industry," says Judd of their decision to follow Prince in giving away new material with the paper. It seems to have worked: the newspaper added 300,000 to its usual 2.1m sale with the giveaway. To put that into context, the band's chart-topping second album sold 300,000 in total. They then released Radio:Active properly, and it still made the top 10. The subsequent sellout arena tour suggests the giveaway was a good move – but how about sharing page space with the less enlightened souls associated with the Mail? "Richard Littlejohn? What's that?" says Jones when asked. It probably didn't worry them too much.

Now able to spend daft amounts of (their own) money on music videos and flying stages – the pyrotechnics in the Lies video were supposedly funded by downgrading a flight to economy – the band felt liberated. A run of success abroad, combined with a new musical direction, was enough for Universal to ask them to rejoin the fold. The band agreed to a new 50/50 share deal, in which the label profits from tours and merchandise but the band make more on record sales than the usual 16%. Because Universal don't have to worry as much about losing revenue from CD sales, they've allowed McFly to offer all their music directly from their new website on a subscription basis.

When it launches, Super City, McFly's new web presence, will give fans unprecedented access to the band. The most active fans earn points that can lead to webchats and phonecalls; there are also video guitar lessons, the band's entire back catalogue, and social networks that aim to create a community tied directly to McFly. All this comes for a pocket-money-busting £6 a month, or £50 a year, with the first 100,000 fans being granted "pioneer" status that allows them more goodies. "It's cheaper than an album, and our fans spend so much money on us that we wanted to find a way to give them more access," Fletcher says.

If this digital gamble comes off (and it's a huge if), it could be the music industry's equivalent of Manchester United streaming games on their website. Even if only 10,000 "pioneers" sign up, McFly could still clear hundreds of thousands of pounds a year. It's a larger-scale take on the 1,000 true fans theory, which suggests that a band needs 1,000 paying fans to make a living. So how many people do they think will sign up? "We'll have to find out . . . " says a circumspect Fletcher, who even suggests he'll put demos up on the site before showing them to his bandmates, and that the site will give fans the chance to say what singles McFly should release and what songs to play live.

"We're just going to be completely open and show the fans everything," says Fletcher. "And why not? I think you have to be. The music industry is different now. In the olden days, that distance between you and your idols made it special. But now people are craving information, and you have to [provide it]."

Judging by comments on their videos on YouTube, what McFly's fans also crave is the band without their tops. In order to sate that particular appetite (and to launch the new site), they've made their own 30-minute movie, Nowhere Left to Run; judging by the trailer, it involves some vampire action and lots of shots of Judd sans clothing. "We were referencing people like Michael Jackson when he did Moonwalker. There aren't any rules, really. We just thought it'd be fun to make a movie," says Fletcher.

The video for their new single, Party Girl, is stuffed with clips from the film, and represents a step away from their early teenybopper take on Blink-182. The video whoomphs into life with Lady Gaga-style whirring synths while retaining the guitar-swinging-around-their-heads jollity that originally found them fame. It might well be this change in direction that allows McFly to survive (the song has gone straight on to the Radio 1 A-list), rather than any high-tech fan-corralling. And if all else fails, they can always just keep taking their tops off.

• Party Girl is out on Sunday. McFly's new album follows in November. "

Ja toinen artikkeli contactmusic.comista:

"Mcfly's 'International' Album

McFly have changed their sound to include more commercial pop influences, so they could ''compete on an international level''.
McFly changed their sound so they could "compete on an international level".
The British group dropped the guitars and rock influenced sound of their fourth album 'Radio: Active' to work with pop producers on their next single 'Party Girl', in order to attract a wider audience to their sound.
The band's frontman, Tom Fletcher told NME magazine: "We worked with producer Taio Cruz on this album! But we changed because we wanted to compete on an international level."
Another change the group - which also includes Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd - are championing is to use their website to debut their new material, and may in future use it as a platform for demos so their fans can choose which songs they eventually record, and give them chance to choose the band's set list for live shows.
Tom added: "We're just going to be completely open and show the fans everything. And why not? I think you have to be. The music industry is different now. In the olden days, that distance between you and your idols made it special. But now people are craving information, and you have to provide."
'Party Girl' is available from Sunday (06.09.10), and the band's album follows in November. "
