"McFly vow to never drop hit songs" ja McFly Amsterdamissa

"MCFLY VOW TO NEVER DROP HIT SONGS
UNLIKE some artists who get bored of playing their biggest hits, McFly have vowed never to drop fan favourites Five Colours In Her Hair and All About You from their live set.
I caught up with the four-piece on the shoot of their new video for single That’s The Truth.
Singer Tom Fletcher, 25, told me: “Five Colours is the only song we’ve played at every show since the beginning.
“We’ve played All About You ever since our second tour too.”
The lads will soon start rehearsing for their Above The Noise arena tour, which kicks off on March 12 in Nottingham.
It’s no wonder the issue of picking a setlist has come up.
But while their latest album has spawned their biggest hit in years – Shine A Light featuring Taio Cruz, 26 – new songs are now on the cards.
Harry Judd, 25, added: “The real aim is to write bigger and bigger hits all the time.”
Daily Star

"McFlying high

IT seems McFly have had something of a seven-year itch with the music industry.
Nearly a decade after they burst into the charts all fresh-faced and baggy-jeaned with pop-tastic Five Colours in Her Hair, they’re back with an edge.
Seven years after forming, the jeans are tighter and the gelled spikes have been ditched for a more dishevelled look.
Yet the strong melodies and brotherly camaraderie which made them popular in the first place remains – this is still unmistakably McFly.
Tom Fletcher says: “Above the Noise (the band’s new album) is a change in direction for us, but it’s nice to experiment and try new things.
“We worked with Dallas Austin (American R‘n’B super-producer) and Taio Cruz as we thought we’d try something new.
“As everyone gets older their musical taste changes and you experiment, it’s the same for us. But when you’re in the studio it’s horrible if you over analyse things.
"You just make something you like and that you hope will appeal to different people.
“When people see us in the street they used to sing Five Colours in Her Hair at us, but now it’s Shine a Light.” (The band’s recent top five single.)
McFly’s fans too have got older, but they’re still ardent. Dozens were waiting at the gates of our interview venue – the Metro Radio Arena – waiting for a glimpse of their heroes.
The group will be back in Tyneside in March for their Above the Noise tour, the first arena tour in two years. It’s a return to what they love most.
Touring, the band says, is the best bit about being McFly,
“We always try and put on a show,” explains Danny Jones.
“The last tour was pretty impressive because we had a flying stage, but we haven’t started rehearsals for this one yet.
“We’re pretty hands-on though and will give them a wish list of how we want the set to be.
“We’re going to be more shocking than Lady Gaga,” he jokes.
Tom says: “The first night of tour is always a bit scary because in arena tours you have explosions or bits of the stage that move.
“It’s such an adrenaline rush and you never lose that. If anything you appreciate it more when you get older because you know what’s going on
The singer adds: “We’ve been around for seven years now. I like to think that’s because it’s good music, but also because our fans can see how much we enjoy it.
“The main reason bands stop is because they split up, but we love our job.
“A lot of pop music isn’t genuine, but we absolutely love McFly. We are the biggest McFly fans.”
So playing music and the reaction of fans is the best thing about being in the band, but the worst thing, it seems, is people like me. Journalists that is, who ask them questions as part of promotional drives.
In seven years as a band there’s not many questions they haven’t been asked – what’s the weirdest thing a fan’s ever sent you is the most popular, and tedious one, they say.
Turns out the weirdest thing Tom was given was huge box of Stilton by a Japanese fan. (He volunteered that information, I didn’t ask.)
The lads, however, were on top form when I met them: all jokes, friendly banter and hungry for their forthcoming delivery of Subway sandwiches.
Lunch over, the hungry fans outside got their wish when the band went over to sign autographs, talk to mums on phones and pose for snaps.
Mum-of-two Claire Todhunter, 37, from Hylton Castle was one of those to make the trip from Sunderland in the hope of meeting the band.
She did, and now has a signed mobile phone to prove it.
“I found out they were going to be here because Tom put it on Twitter,” she explained.
“So I thought I would come down and see them. They are amazing, they are lovely to their fans.”
Stacie Hartburn, 22, from Herrington Burn, said: “I have loved them since I was 14 and still do. I wasn’t sure about their new stuff, but I love it now. I can’t wait to see them in concert.”

"McFly star takes on 'The Cube'
McFly star Tom Fletcher has filmed an appearance on a celebrity edition of ITV1 gameshow The Cube.
Previous personalities to appear on the Phillip Schofield-hosted programme include Dame Kelly Holmes and Kelly Osbourne. Writing on Twitter, the singer refused to reveal if he had been successful in the various challenges.
"I've had a VERY tricky afternoon inside The Cube," he told fans. "Won't tell you how I did...you'll have to wait and watch!!! (sic)"
His bandmate Dougie Poynter added: "Just watched @tommcfly kick The Cube right in the shins and call its mum a fat square. Today he did something great!"
Describing the episode as "intense", Schofield also revealed that he has completed filming the third series.
"Our best yet without question," he wrote. "I'll let you know when it's on the telly but I'm guessing Spring."

"McFly's Dougie Poynter hits back at ex Frankie Sandford
I feel for Dougie Poynter of McFly. Not only did he get dumped for a second time by The Saturdays’ Frankie Sandford but he now has to hear all about her scoring with new beau, footballer Wayne Bridge.
But the bassist has got his revenge – by blasting Frankie for being a “no one” until they began dating in 2008.
“Francesca was no one before we met. I’d never date another famous person, it’s not really me – I’m just a Star Wars obsessed geek,” he says. “I didn’t fit in with The Saturdays and JLS party scene anyway. It won’t be third time lucky for us, that’s it now.” Over to you Frankie..."

"McFly star looks back on his early career
POP star Danny Jones has been reminiscing about his days playing at open mic nights around Bolton ahead of his band McFly’s tour of arenas next year.
The band will play the MEN Arena, in Manchester, on March 19, but Danny revealed his career started in much smaller venues closer to home.
“I used to play at the buskers ball,” he said.
“It travelled around the pubs but the one at the Man and Scythe was the best. Going to those nights really helped me.”
The singer was speaking after the band, which also includes by Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter, had recorded a special acoustic session for Manchester’s Real Radio.
And the mob of screaming girls, who were standing outside hoping to catch a glimpse of the heartthrobs, proved their popularity remains undiminished — eight years after they first burst on to the pop scene with their debut single Five Colours In Her Hair.
“I’m pretty impressed there are still people who’ll stand out there,” former Thornleigh pupil Danny said.
“It’s nice to see, and we never take it for granted.”
The boys were promoting their next single, That’s The Truth, the third from their latest album Above The Noise, which will be released on March 6.
They recorded the album in Atlanta with superproducer Dallas Austin, who has also worked with Michael Jackson and Gwen Stefani.
“Recording with Dallas was a ball,” said 24-year old Danny.
“I think we did more partying than we did work — but the work we did do was good.
He’s a great guy, he was like the fifth member of McFly while we were recording.”
He admits when the band started they had no idea how popular they would become.
“We never expected to be as successful as we are — it’s amazing,” said Danny.
“The past two years we’ve grown internationally as well, that’s been amazing for us. Fingers crossed we’ll keep going and keep growing — we’ve still got goals to achieve.”

"McFly gearing up for Birmingham tour date
Ask McFly about Birmingham and the lads mutter a few complimentary words about the hotels and the city’s football teams.
But mention Wolverhampton and their eyes light up as they think back to the time when four nervous boys took to the stage at the Civic Hall for their first gig.
They are so fond of the venue that four years ago they used it to film their Greatest Hits Arena Tour DVD.
Danny Jones, Doug Poynter, Harry Judd and Tom Fletcher were at the NIA in Birmingham yesterday to promote their tour, which comes to Birmingham LG Arena on March 30.
But Doug said: “To us Wolverhampton is a special place as it was the first time we led a show.
“We filmed our DVD at the Civic Hall because of the importance of the venue to us, as we have had some of our best shows there.”

"Video: McFly dine out at Lowry Hotel's River Restaurant

With their latest album they’ve gone for a brand new sound and a sophisticated new image – and it seems the lads from McFly have more refined tastes when it comes to a night out these days, too.
For the foursome tell me that rather than a night of rock ‘n’ roll hellraising, they prefer a spot of fine dining in fancy restaurants.
To prove the point, they tell me when they arrived here on Wednesday night they preferred a slap-up meal at The Lowry Hotel’s swanky River Room restaurant rather than a night partying on the town.
See the video of the interview below ...

And the lads like to go to posh eateries every week together as a group – then all give them a rating for the meal in the style of hit Channel 4 show Come Dine With Me. Bandmate Tom Fletcher said: “We’ve long appreciated a good meal and a glass of fine wine.
Boltonian Danny Jones added: “We’re getting to that age now! When we all headed down to the restaurant, Dougie was even sat there having a nice glass of dessert wine with his cheese.”
The band’s biggest hits include All About You, but it was all about food as the lads tucked into a la carte meals at The Lowry, which included Cheshire beef fillets served with braised beef ravioli (£25), followed by peanut butter cheesecake with fresh raspberries, and bandmate Dougie Poynter’s favourite – a huge £10.50 platter of British farmhouse cheeses. And it was all washed down with a bottle of Danny’s favourite Spanish Ribera wine – a cool £65 a bottle.
Tom said: “We went through a stage last year where we’d all go to a nice restaurant every week as a group, and then we’d all rate it like on Come Dine With Me.” And The Lowry’s rating? An impressive 8.5/10, they informed me.
But they were most perturbed when The Diary informed the budding gourmands that Manchester is without a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Tom said: “No Michelin stars? That’s a real shame, and a little surprising.”
The chaps were getting their female fans in a frenzy when they headed to the Salford Quays’ studios of Real Radio yesterday – where they performed an acoustic set of songs including their new single, That’s The Truth.
Fans won’t have to wait long for their return to Manchester – they’ll be bringing their Above The Noise tour to the M.E.N Arena on March 19.
And they’re promising fans they won’t be disappointed.
Danny says: “We’re always trying to put on the best show possible, and we can’t wait to get to the M.E.N Arena. Growing up I saw all my idols play there so it’s always something special to get on that stage.”

"McFly reveal drummer Harry's 'doctored' six-pack at intimate Liverpool gig

McFly's drummer Harry Judd had pictures DOCTORED to enhance his six-pack, other members of the boyband revealed.
The half-naked 25-year-old graces the cover of this month's Attitude magazine, much to the amusement of his fellow bandmates.
Tom, Dougie and Danny couldn't contain their giggles when a fan produced a copy of the men's glossy at an intimate gig at Radio City in Liverpool during a tour of the station.
Revealing Harry's secret, cheeky guitarist Danny, 24, told fans: "Little do you know, there's loads of post-production on that.
"They put his six-pack on afterwards!"
Harry, who previously posed nude in a shower with the rest of the pop rock band, retorted: "Can you feel the jealousy in the room?"
Close pal Dougie, who jokingly claims to be "Harry Judd's girlfriend" on Twitter, sat open mouthed as he flicked through the pages in front of the giggling teen audience.
The 23-year-old bassist screamed: "Oh my God, I haven't seen that one.
"You're doing that thing when you try to look all cute.
"I'm actually going to get that blown up and put in my flat!"
The boys performed an acoustic gig to a delighted audience at the top of the Radio City tower, hosted by mid-morning DJ Rick Vaughn.
Despite a broken string, Tom and Danny sang their hit singles 'Shine A Light' and 'All About You' and gave a sneak preview of their new release 'That's The Truth'.
Ahead of their gig at the Echo Arena in March, guitarist Tom admitted that nerves still get the better of them.
The 25-year-old said: "The worst are the last few minutes before you go on stage because you just want to get on and do it.
Harry added: "We're very lucky because our fans are so into our gigs and they love it.
"Last time we had a floating stage though... I don't know if we can top that!"
McFly's 'Above the Noise' UK arena tour kicks off in Nottingham on 12th March before coming to the Echo Arena on Tuesday 29th March."

"Interview: Gordon Barr talks to McFly
McFLY are at the Metro Radio Arena in March but visited to the venue to chat to Entertainment Editor Gordon Barr. Dougie, Danny, Tom and Harry reveal today how they had to have the paramedics called in after their first ever Toon gig.
McFly are back ... with a new sound, a more mature mentality and minus the rock ’n’ roll lifestyle they once led.
I say rock ’n’ roll, but swap drugs and booze for coffees and energy drinks, which took their toll on one member of the chart-topping group the first time they played Newcastle.
McFly are in a chatty and amiable mood when I meet them in the Gold Club at the Metro Radio Arena – ahead of their gig at the venue on March 27 this year – as fans wait patiently outside.
Dougie, Danny, Tom and Harry have enjoyed two hit singles off their latest album Above The Noise, and will release new single That’s The Truth, in early March.
Its’ a very truthful Dougie who recalls their first ever gig at the Arena, as support act to Busted.
“I went a bit nuts, came off stage and went purple,” he recalls. “The paramedics were called.”
Dougie was, in fact, suffering the after effects of excesses ... but not in a typical rocker’s way!
“I was having shots of espresso and Red Bull and Poweraid and I was 16 and thought I needed more energy,” he smiles.
“But it kind of went the other way. I just went purple and everyone started to get worried. To be honest there was enough energy off the crowd. I was just young and naive.”
The lads are now on the comeback trail and their latest work sees them heading in a new musical direction. Fans will hear it live on March 27.
Don’t miss my full, revealing McFly interview in the Chronicle on the run-up to the gig."

"Harry Judd from McFly topless!
What is better than a picture of Harry McFly? A picture of Harry McFly with his shirt off!
Apparently there are some even ruder pictures in Attitude including a previous shoot that was done with the whole band in August.
Here is what Attitude told us about it:
Finally, those unseen pictures taken from the summer McFly shoot have achieved almost mythical status. We've received requests from readers asking to release them, which we’re doing in this issue. We were trying to work out in Attitude HQ how people find out about them we’re not sure we blabbed…
Tempted? Wait till you hear what Harry said
“Well, we were fucking around naked in the pool, and diving out of the pool naked like dolphins and you could just see our arses popping out.
“We found that quite amusing, so we may have talked about that a few times in interviews. Obviously the swimming shots didn't make it in.
“I think also, the nature of the shoot, people probably guessed that there's quite a lot of other shots kicking about. I don't know how that urban myth came about, but it's not really a myth, is it? You guys know what you've got.”
Is anyone else feeling a bit faint?"
