"Video: McFly dine out at Lowry Hotel's River Restaurant

With their latest album they’ve gone for a brand new sound and a sophisticated new image – and it seems the lads from McFly have more refined tastes when it comes to a night out these days, too.
For the foursome tell me that rather than a night of rock ‘n’ roll hellraising, they prefer a spot of fine dining in fancy restaurants.
To prove the point, they tell me when they arrived here on Wednesday night they preferred a slap-up meal at The Lowry Hotel’s swanky River Room restaurant rather than a night partying on the town.
See the video of the interview below ...

And the lads like to go to posh eateries every week together as a group – then all give them a rating for the meal in the style of hit Channel 4 show Come Dine With Me. Bandmate Tom Fletcher said: “We’ve long appreciated a good meal and a glass of fine wine.
Boltonian Danny Jones added: “We’re getting to that age now! When we all headed down to the restaurant, Dougie was even sat there having a nice glass of dessert wine with his cheese.”
The band’s biggest hits include All About You, but it was all about food as the lads tucked into a la carte meals at The Lowry, which included Cheshire beef fillets served with braised beef ravioli (£25), followed by peanut butter cheesecake with fresh raspberries, and bandmate Dougie Poynter’s favourite – a huge £10.50 platter of British farmhouse cheeses. And it was all washed down with a bottle of Danny’s favourite Spanish Ribera wine – a cool £65 a bottle.
Tom said: “We went through a stage last year where we’d all go to a nice restaurant every week as a group, and then we’d all rate it like on Come Dine With Me.” And The Lowry’s rating? An impressive 8.5/10, they informed me.
But they were most perturbed when The Diary informed the budding gourmands that Manchester is without a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Tom said: “No Michelin stars? That’s a real shame, and a little surprising.”
The chaps were getting their female fans in a frenzy when they headed to the Salford Quays’ studios of Real Radio yesterday – where they performed an acoustic set of songs including their new single, That’s The Truth.
Fans won’t have to wait long for their return to Manchester – they’ll be bringing their Above The Noise tour to the M.E.N Arena on March 19.
And they’re promising fans they won’t be disappointed.
Danny says: “We’re always trying to put on the best show possible, and we can’t wait to get to the M.E.N Arena. Growing up I saw all my idols play there so it’s always something special to get on that stage.”

"McFly reveal drummer Harry's 'doctored' six-pack at intimate Liverpool gig

McFly's drummer Harry Judd had pictures DOCTORED to enhance his six-pack, other members of the boyband revealed.
The half-naked 25-year-old graces the cover of this month's Attitude magazine, much to the amusement of his fellow bandmates.
Tom, Dougie and Danny couldn't contain their giggles when a fan produced a copy of the men's glossy at an intimate gig at Radio City in Liverpool during a tour of the station.
Revealing Harry's secret, cheeky guitarist Danny, 24, told fans: "Little do you know, there's loads of post-production on that.
"They put his six-pack on afterwards!"
Harry, who previously posed nude in a shower with the rest of the pop rock band, retorted: "Can you feel the jealousy in the room?"
Close pal Dougie, who jokingly claims to be "Harry Judd's girlfriend" on Twitter, sat open mouthed as he flicked through the pages in front of the giggling teen audience.
The 23-year-old bassist screamed: "Oh my God, I haven't seen that one.
"You're doing that thing when you try to look all cute.
"I'm actually going to get that blown up and put in my flat!"
The boys performed an acoustic gig to a delighted audience at the top of the Radio City tower, hosted by mid-morning DJ Rick Vaughn.
Despite a broken string, Tom and Danny sang their hit singles 'Shine A Light' and 'All About You' and gave a sneak preview of their new release 'That's The Truth'.
Ahead of their gig at the Echo Arena in March, guitarist Tom admitted that nerves still get the better of them.
The 25-year-old said: "The worst are the last few minutes before you go on stage because you just want to get on and do it.
Harry added: "We're very lucky because our fans are so into our gigs and they love it.
"Last time we had a floating stage though... I don't know if we can top that!"
McFly's 'Above the Noise' UK arena tour kicks off in Nottingham on 12th March before coming to the Echo Arena on Tuesday 29th March."

"Interview: Gordon Barr talks to McFly
McFLY are at the Metro Radio Arena in March but visited to the venue to chat to Entertainment Editor Gordon Barr. Dougie, Danny, Tom and Harry reveal today how they had to have the paramedics called in after their first ever Toon gig.
McFly are back ... with a new sound, a more mature mentality and minus the rock ’n’ roll lifestyle they once led.
I say rock ’n’ roll, but swap drugs and booze for coffees and energy drinks, which took their toll on one member of the chart-topping group the first time they played Newcastle.
McFly are in a chatty and amiable mood when I meet them in the Gold Club at the Metro Radio Arena – ahead of their gig at the venue on March 27 this year – as fans wait patiently outside.
Dougie, Danny, Tom and Harry have enjoyed two hit singles off their latest album Above The Noise, and will release new single That’s The Truth, in early March.
Its’ a very truthful Dougie who recalls their first ever gig at the Arena, as support act to Busted.
“I went a bit nuts, came off stage and went purple,” he recalls. “The paramedics were called.”
Dougie was, in fact, suffering the after effects of excesses ... but not in a typical rocker’s way!
“I was having shots of espresso and Red Bull and Poweraid and I was 16 and thought I needed more energy,” he smiles.
“But it kind of went the other way. I just went purple and everyone started to get worried. To be honest there was enough energy off the crowd. I was just young and naive.”
The lads are now on the comeback trail and their latest work sees them heading in a new musical direction. Fans will hear it live on March 27.
Don’t miss my full, revealing McFly interview in the Chronicle on the run-up to the gig."
