"McFly top the bill for Davies’ charity gig
McFly will play their first ever Bolton gig at a charity event organised by Bolton Wanderers star Kevin Davies.
The band have confirmed that they will be playing Kevin Davies’ Masquerade Ball at the Reebok Stadium on March 5, as part of the fundraising event for the player’s charity Kids of Bolton.
“We’ve been chasing McFly for a while, so it’s the icing on the cake for us that we can confirm them,” said the Wanderers striker.
He revealed that Bolton boy Danny Jones asked him if the band could take part after the event was initially announced, but that there were doubts as to whether the four-piece would be able to fit it into their schedule.
“We never really expected them to be able to do it because they are so busy at the moment,” said Kevin.
“It’s brilliant that they are going to be able to make it.”
Danny said: “I’ve never played a gig in Bolton as part of McFly so I’m really looking forward to it. I really wanted to do it because it’s my home town, it’s a great cause and plus it’s Kevin Davies and I’m a massive Bolton fan.”
The event will also feature Bolton comedian and Take Me Out frontman Paddy McGuinness, who will be setting his celebrity pals up on dates like a modern-day Cilla Black.
DJ Spoony will be providing music, and dancing is expected to last long into the night, with people who have paid for places on VIP tables also able to carry on the party with Kevin with a casino event and afterparty.
“It will be our biggest fundraiser of the year, but there will also be lots more events that we have yet to confirm, so there will be something for everyone,” said Kevin.
Danny said that he was aiming to watch the Bolton match the day before, joking that he hoped organisers didn’t send him home to sleep on his parents’ sofa while the other McFly boys were put up in a fancy hotel.
“It’ll be great, it’ll be a really good laugh,” he said.
Tickets for the event cost £1,000 per table of 10 or £1,250 for a VIP table. For more information: visit kidsofbolton.com or email kidsofbolton@ yahoo.co.uk."

"McFly - That's The Truth
Fresh from the huge success of their hit single ‘Shine A Light’ and a triumphant 2010 which saw McFly launch their massively successful ‘Super City’ website, the band announce their first release of 2011, new single ‘That’s The Truth’.
Released on 6th March via Island Records, ‘That’s The Truth’ is written and produced by the band and uber US producer Dallas Austin (Madonna, Michael Jackson) and is the third single to be taken from the band’s fifth studio album ‘Above The Noise’.
‘That’s The Truth’ is a departure from the electronic sound and sublime synths featured on previous two singles ‘Shine A Light’ and ‘Party Girl’. A string orchestra accompanies the band’s heartfelt lyrics about honesty and working through problems in relationships, whilst the anthemic chorus has already proved to be a huge fan’s favourite at McFly’s recent live shows.
After performing five sold-out intimate mini-UK dates in October to preview ‘Above The Noise’, this Spring will see McFly play 13 dates across the country in their biggest ever UK tour. Their first Arena tour in two years will culminate in a show at Wembley, London.
2010 was a phenomenal year for McFly. Always looking for new ways to work within a piracy-hit music industry, the band launched their ground breaking ‘Super City’ website; a project two years in the making. The website provides worldwide fans with unrivalled access to the band; it has citizens rather than visitors where fans can subscribe to access further content including albums, demos and web chats. Super City launched on November 1st and has been an unprecedented success. Over 15,000 fans from all over the world subscribed within the first few days far exceeding the initial target of 10,000 pioneers within the first six months
With a fan base that now stretches around the world and having recently entered a joint venture with their original major label home, McFly have succeeded beyond their own expectations."
