Dougie is out of rehab and telling everyone how good it feels to be back with his boys.
It was touch and go whether Dougie Poynter would make the McFly tour, but fresh from rehab, the star is loving every minute of being on the road.
He Tweeted: “Sheffield. You guys knocked the crap outta me! Truly awesome. Manchester MEN bring it on Morpheus style.”
The next night Dougie praised Manchester fans, writing: “Last night was awesome. Machester blew my face off.”
He added: “Brighton was hella sweet last night. Cardiff shall be bitchin times also!”
Dougie checked into the Priory earlier this month when he was reportedly struggling to cope with his break-up from Saturday’s star Frankie Sandford.
Last week, he was feeling well enough to return home and told concerned fans: “Got home last night and read all your messages. Thanks for all your support, really means allot x”
Dougie headed straight into rehearsals and was ready to perform on the first night of the McFly tour, which kicked off on Friday."

"McFlying into Bournemouth
“I’M planning on running naked throughout the whole of Bournemouth just so I can fit in seeing everything that’s there. I’m also really looking forward to going to a typical Bournemouth pub and somewhere with great food,” exclaims Dougie Poynter from McFly.
Returning to Bournemouth on Wednesday for their headline tour, the chart-topping boy band seem giddily excited, if not a bit crazy about seeing the town. Since 2002, the boys have sold an estimated eight million records worldwide and are proud owners of a Brit Award.
It’s safe to say Mcfly have pleased most fans around the globe, with Dougie’s favourite place being “Erm, somewhere I can’t remember in Sydney, but yeah that was my favourite place, oh and the Rock in Rio gig we did in Lisbon last year.”
Wednesday’s Bournemouth show will be part of their first tour after a two-year break from the road.
Fans might get more than they expected, as Dougie revealed that “on tour supporters can expect to see nudity and fire as well as us being able to play better than we ever have before.”
McFly have also recently launched Supercity their interactive website with bells and whistles on.
“Fans love Supercity, it’s a chance for them to feel much closer to us and we make sure we go out and meet fans before each gig. Our fans have also been able to help us decide on the set lists.”
While Poynter, 23, seemed upbeat, there has been a backlash regarding their new electro, Gaga-esque sound.
“Some fans are not into it and played live, our new stuff sounds a lot heavier but I think it still fits in with all of our old tracks and when they hear it live they will see. My favourite track from the new album Above The Noise is ‘Nowhere Left To Run and I’m really looking forward to playing it live on tour.”
At the end of 2010, McFly teamed up with UK producer and artist Taio Cruz for Shine A Light, which seemed at the time an unexpected musical collaboration.
“Taio was a sweet guy, really quiet and shy but great to work with” and Dougie agreed that it was an unusual combination but one that seemed to work.
“In the future, I’d love to collaborate with a female artist. I think that would be good as we haven’t ever done it before.”
Though McFly are experienced performers, they still remain looking like typical boys next door – albeit with a bit more stubble than when they first hit the charts.
“We don’t have a stylist as such as we like to wear our own clothes on tour, so we have help with the shopping and then we just wear what we like.”
But it’s not all a bed of roses being in a successful boy band. After speaking to Dougie, the musician checked into rehab due to his split with girl-band member Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays. Last week, the band announced to fans that Dougie would be back and fighting fit for the tour.

"Rocking above the noise
With a new sound, and the world’s first-ever Super City, McFly return to Aberdeen tomorrow night, writes Colene McKessick
ALTHOUGH they were seen initially as a boy band with the usual expiry date, four-piece McFly have proved critics wrong by entering their eighth year as a band, recently releasing their sixth album, Above the Noise.
Just as the charts and music industry have evolved since 2003, the band have tried to grow and develop, too. Those with tickets to their Above the Noise tour date in Aberdeen tomorrow night will notice a distinct change in style from the band’s preppy-pop debut, Five Colours in Her Hair.
In the age of downloads and social networking, the band have become the first to have a multifunctional “hub” – the Super City. No ordinary fan website, Super City allows fans to chat to members of the band on specially streamed web chats, hear unreleased material and demos, watch behind-the-scenes videos, and even download albums and buy concert tickets before they are released to the public.
So, seeing as they’ve aimed high with their latest album and website, lead singer Tom Fletcher said that the tour would be a new adventure for the group.
“It is a huge show,” said Tom, 25.
“Normally what happens is that we come up with a big wish list of what we want to do on the tour, and then we send that through to our production designer and he tells us what is physically impossible, or what’s going to cost stupid amounts of money, and then we narrow it down.
“But I think this is the first time that we put the list in and we’re able to do all of the things we wanted to do, so I think it’s going to be one of the biggest shows we’ve put on.
“We like creating moments in the show that stand out, so people go away saying: ‘Remember when they did this?’ So we have a few things like that up our sleeves for this tour.
“I remember going to arenas to see bands play when I was young, so we want to create an amazing night of entertainment for the people who come and see us.”
With Above the Noise being a completely new direction for the band, who had hits with previous songs All About You and Star Girl, Tom admits releasing the new sound to existing and new fans was daunting.
“It was scary, but we were so pleased with the reaction we got, especially with the reaction we got to Shine a Light, it was incredible, it’s been our most successful single ever,” he said.
“The record was an experiment; we weren’t 100% sure how people would react. Obviously, we’re extremely proud of it, but you are never sure with any album how people will react.
“Releasing albums is the hardest bit of the job, and the tour is the reward at the end, so I’m glad we’re at the stage where we’re on tour everywhere; that’s the most fun.
“If you had said a couple of years ago that we’d have an album like Above the Noise, I’d never have believed it, it’s a lot of collaboration and a lot of experimentation,” said Tom.
“We have a massive song called Nowhere Left To Run that as soon as we recorded we were really looking forward to doing live; it’s a huge song.
“We have a song called End of the World which samples War of the Worlds, and it’s tricky to play live. I won’t lie, me and Danny have messed it up quite a few times, but I’m looking forward to playing all the new ones.
“If I’m being honest, we love doing the old stuff, too. We’re never going to stop playing the songs that people pay money to come and hear, and we love them, too. I never really understand when bands don’t play their biggest hits, or get fed up of them. We have fun if the crowd are having fun, so we like doing All About You and Five Colours in her Hair just as much as we like doing the new stuff.”
Fans who join McFly’s Super City website, or Pioneers, as they’re known, also get other benefits on tour, such as early entry to venues and exclusive meet and greets.
"The meet and greets have gone really well,” said Tom.
“Because this is completely new territory for us, we tried it in Europe so we could see the best way of doing things, so at some venues there were 2,000 or 3,000 people and we sussed out a nice little formula for meeting everyone.”
As for the critics, Tom said the band would always have to fight to lose their boy-band label.
“I think it’s one of those things: we’re very ambitious, so we want as much recognition for that and with every album we always aim to be the biggest band in the world, so it pushes us to do the biggest things we can,” he said.
“If you aim for the stars, you might land on the moon, and that’s what we live by. It is frustrating not getting recognition, but, on the other hand, it’s hard to complain because so many other bands have half the amount of success that we’ve had, so we’re very blessed.
“But when you’re very ambitious, you’re never really happy. When you do take a step back, though, we’re extremely lucky to be in the position we’re in.”
As for the date, Tom’s looking forward to the band’s most northerly tour stop.
“We have very fond memories of playing up in Aberdeen because it has always been great,” he said.
“It’s not like there’s a distinction between the band and audience; we’re all there to have a great night.
“But I need to get Danny to work on his Scottish accent. He always says: ‘Hello Aberdeen,’ but it sounds more Glaswegian, so that won’t do.”

"Rehab appears to have done strange things to Dougie’s face
Having trotted along to rehab to get over a few emotional woes regarding his ex-girlfriend and her fondness for ugly-but-rich premiership footballers, we’d have thought Dougie McFly would look refreshed. All people do in rehab is go for picnics and drink coconut water, right?
Which doesn’t really explain why Dougie looked like a little old man shuffling out of a McFly gig yesterday. Is he happy? Is he sad? Is he confused?
Whatever he is, Dougie looks like he needs a good rogering to get some colour back into his cheeks. Volunteers? Anyone? Just us? OK!"

"McFly make a landing in Bawtry hotel

POP sensations McFly helped add star quality to a wedding in Doncaster when they were spotted at the same venue.
Band members Tom, Dougie, Danny and Harry were staying at the Crown Hotel in Bawtry with crew, manager and bouncers,.
They were in Bawtry during a stint at a nearby rehearsal studio before going on tour last Friday.
McFly’s Above the Noise Tour kicked off in Sheffield on Friday, March 18, taking them all over the country performing hits from their new album, including Shine a Light and new single That’s the Truth.
It was the second time the group has stayed at the hotel, having visited five year ago.
Katey Dent, sales manager of the Crown, said the band loved Bawtry.
She said: “It was great to see the guys from McFly return to the hotel.
"They came to us around five years ago – much younger then of course!
“We had a wedding on at the hotel the same day they were checking out and the wedding guests could not believe that McFly were there!
"They were happy to have photos with the wedding party and also sign autographs.”
McFly are on a long list of groups and musicians on the guest book at the hotel, including Boyzone, Kasabian, Peter Andre and Dizzee Rascal."
